Governance Executive - Warwickshire
£30,000 - £35,000pa + Pension, Healthcare
We are currently looking to speak with any experienced Governance executives for a role within our Rugby based client. Our client operates within the Charitable sector and is going through a significant period of change. They operate on an International stage and whilst based at their Rugby site there will be the need for occasional travel to other UK sites
About the role
A key focus of the role will be to support a recently established membership representative body with full secretarial and administrative support. You will also hold responsibility for the day to day management of the Governance Executive to ensure the framework is maintained and developed.
The focus of your role will be to: -
- Act as an information and reference point on all Congress matters to the Congress Steering Group, Congress members, staff and the wider membership
- Work closely and support the Congress Steering Group and give clear advice on procedural matters
- Work with the Congress Steering Group to ensure that Congress uphold the requirements of the governing documents including Terms of Reference, Regulations, Royal Charter and By-laws
- Maintain consistency of any changes to the relevant governing documents of Congress
- Assist the Congress Chair with planning and preparation for Congress meetings including organising and facilitating yearly face-to-face meetings of Congress members (travel and accommodation bookings, presentations and speaker invitations)
- Assist the Congress Chair, as required, with drafting relevant reports on behalf of the Congress before submission to the Board of Trustees or sharing them with the wider membership
- Organise teleconferences for Congress Working Groups and take minutes of meetings
- Undertake any other reasonable duties that can be reasonably expected to ensure smooth running and efficient work of Congress
- Provide admin support to the Communications Panel and the Nominations Committee who have Congress member representation on their Board.
- Support the Finance & Business Support Director in keeping abreast of developments in charity governance and standards of best practice
- Maintain a log of all policies and ensure regular reviews are implemented and approved at appropriate level
- Act as an information and reference point on all governance matters across the organisation
- Maintain document management and centralisation of governance documents in line with ISO9001
- Develop and maintain structure charts
- Oversee the day to day management of the junior Governance Executive – providing guidance and coaching where required
About you
Our client is keen to speak with experienced Governance professionals with a Degree and/or a professional qualification in a relevant discipline. You will need to have worked in a governance role previously. ideally with up to date knowledge of Charity Governance and best practice policies. You will need to be able to demonstrate you have exceptional communications skills and that you are able to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders from Board level downwards. You will need to have an engaging and persuasive manner to work with and motivate volunteers. Previous experience of working in a Membership organisation would be highly advantageous.
