Assistant Accountant - 12 Month FTC (Maternity Cover)

As they continue to expand their operations throughout the UK and overseas, they now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, passionate accounting professional to join them on the next stage of their journey.
OK, let’s start with what’s in it for you? (I thought you’d like to know)
You’ll be working Monday – Friday from 9.00 – 5.00, predominantly from their Banbury HQ, although you will have the opportunity to work 2 days a week from home. For this maternity cover contract (12 Months) you’ll be able to earn from £28,000 - £32,000 pa and benefit from a plethora of amazing employee perks that include discounted offers, family-friendly policies, health-conscious incentives like Cycle to work and a fresh fruit scheme and even an employee “Great British Bake off” style party day.
Let’s not forget there’s work to do too, here’s what your responsibilities will look like:
- Assist in the production of Monthly Management/Financial Accounts
- Working in collaboration with the Operations Finance Manager to ensure all transactions are dealt with appropriately
- Preparation of monthly journals for posting to the ledgers
- Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations to ensure strong balance sheet control
- Management of the stock payment processes
- Assist in the delivery of detailed analysis and reconciliations of sales vs forecast
- Inter-company accounting
- Production of VAT returns
- Weekly cash flow reporting
- Ad hoc reporting including the provision of detailed commentary
Attributes you’ll need to succeed:
OK, so you’ve hopefully already guessed you will need to be an experienced Accounts professional, ideally working towards a professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA. You will have a strong understanding of the journal process and an aptitude for financial systems. This last point will be put to good use in the new year when our client upgrades to a new ERP system. A strong understanding of MS Excel will be key. Any previous experience of working within a Retail/Stock environment would be a distinct advantage too.
The above aside, what you’ll really need to succeed in this environment is Resilience, a proactive approach, oodles of positivity, a team player mentality and Excellent time-management skills.
